What should I expect during my infrared sauna session at GOAT Wellness?
Each infrared sauna session at GOAT Wellness is a private, personalized experience designed for total comfort and recovery. You’ll have a full private suite with your own Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna — no sharing, no interruptions.
When you arrive, your room will be fully prepared with clean towels and chilled water, ready for you to relax and recharge. Inside the sauna, you’ll find built-in Bluetooth speakers, so you can connect your phone and play your favorite playlist, podcast, or guided meditation while you sweat.
The sauna will already be preheated to your preferred temperature (typically 110–158ºF), allowing you to step right in and start your session. The infrared wavelengths will gently warm your body from the inside out, promoting deep detoxification, improved circulation, faster recovery, and complete relaxation — all in a comfortable, breathable environment.
Each session lasts 30–60 minutes, and when you step out, you’ll feel lighter, calmer, and fully recharged — the GOAT standard of recovery.
What is an Infrared Sauna?
An infrared sauna is a modern, science-backed upgrade to traditional heat therapy. Instead of heating the air around you, it uses infrared light waves — near, mid, and far wavelengths — to warm your body from the inside out. This gentle, deep heat penetrates muscles, joints, and tissues, promoting detoxification, faster recovery, pain relief, improved circulation, and total relaxation.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three wavelengths simultaneously, creating a more efficient and comfortable experience. You’ll sweat more, recover faster, and feel lighter — all at a soothing temperature range of 110–158ºF, making it perfect for athletes, high performers, and anyone serious about restoring balance and performance.
How does an Infrared Sauna work?
An infrared sauna works by using infrared light energy — the same safe wavelengths naturally produced by the sun — to heat your body directly rather than the air around you. These wavelengths penetrate deep beneath the skin, gently raising your core temperature and triggering a natural sweat response at a lower, more comfortable heat (110–158ºF).
Each wavelength plays a unique role:
Near-infrared supports skin rejuvenation and cellular repair.
Mid-infrared targets muscles and joints for improved circulation and pain relief.
Far-infrared promotes deep detoxification and relaxation.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three simultaneously — helping your body detoxify, recover, and recharge on a cellular level for maximum performance and total-body wellness.
What are Infrared Sauna benefits?
Infrared sauna therapy goes beyond traditional heat — it works on a cellular level to help your body recover, recharge, and reset. At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers near, mid, and far wavelengths that support deep healing from the inside out.
Top infrared sauna benefits include:
Detoxification: Promotes sweating at lower temperatures, helping flush toxins and heavy metals.
Muscle recovery: Reduces soreness and inflammation, ideal for athletes and high performers.
Circulation boost: Expands blood vessels to improve oxygen flow and nutrient delivery.
Stress reduction: Lowers cortisol and promotes a calm, meditative state.
Skin rejuvenation: Stimulates collagen production for clearer, firmer skin.
Metabolic support: Increases heart rate and calorie burn while resting.
Every session in our infrared sauna helps you recover faster, perform harder, and feel unstoppable — because true wellness starts at the cellular level.
What is the difference between an Infrared Sauna and a traditional sauna?
The main difference comes down to how the body is heated. Traditional saunas warm the air around you, often reaching 180–200ºF, which can feel intense and heavy. Infrared saunas, on the other hand, use light-based heat (near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths) that penetrate the body directly — creating a deep, internal warmth without overheating the air.
This means you’ll sweat more effectively at lower temperatures (110–158ºF), allowing for a longer, more comfortable session. The result is a deeper detox, faster recovery, improved circulation, and reduced stress, all with less strain on your body.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna combines all three infrared wavelengths for a smarter, more efficient way to heal, recover, and perform like a legend.
Which is better — the infrared sauna or a traditional sauna?
While both offer relaxation and detox benefits, most people find the infrared sauna to be the smarter, more effective choice — especially for recovery, performance, and long-term wellness.
Traditional saunas heat the air around you (often 180–200ºF), which can feel intense and limit how long you can stay inside. In contrast, infrared saunas use light-based heat that warms your body directly at a more comfortable 110–158ºF, allowing you to sweat deeper, detox more efficiently, and recover faster without the suffocating heat.
Infrared therapy also activates circulation, supports muscle recovery, and promotes collagen production — benefits you simply don’t get from traditional dry heat.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three wavelengths (near, mid, and far) for a complete, cellular-level experience. The result: less strain, deeper healing, and maximum performance gains — making infrared the clear winner for modern recovery and wellness.
What are infrared wavelengths?
Infrared wavelengths are invisible light frequencies that gently heat the body from within — not the air around you. Unlike traditional saunas that rely on extreme external heat, infrared saunas use near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths to penetrate multiple layers of tissue.
Near-infrared supports skin health, cell rejuvenation, and surface healing.
Mid-infrared targets muscles and joints, improving circulation and mobility.
Far-infrared reaches deeper into the body, promoting detoxification, relaxation, and fat metabolism.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three wavelengths simultaneously — optimizing recovery, performance, and wellness on a cellular level. This makes each session more efficient, comfortable, and effective than traditional heat-based saunas.
Are there any other difference or benefits of infrared saunas compared to traditional saunas?
Absolutely. While both types of saunas promote sweating and relaxation, infrared saunas take recovery and detox to a deeper level by using light-based heat instead of simply heating the air.
This difference unlocks several unique advantages:
Deeper detoxification: Infrared wavelengths penetrate the body directly, activating sweat glands and flushing toxins from within the tissues — not just the skin’s surface.
Lower, more comfortable temperatures: Infrared saunas operate between 110–158ºF, so you get the same (or better) results without the stifling heat of traditional saunas.
Enhanced muscle recovery: The penetrating warmth increases circulation, reduces inflammation, and eases joint or muscle pain more effectively.
Cellular-level healing: Near-infrared wavelengths support skin rejuvenation, collagen production, and cellular repair.
Energy efficiency and comfort: Infrared saunas warm the body faster, use less energy, and allow for longer, more restorative sessions.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three infrared wavelengths — near, mid, and far — simultaneously. That means deeper detox, faster recovery, and smarter heat therapy that goes beyond what traditional saunas can achieve.
What is the maximum temperature of an infrared sauna?
The maximum temperature of a full-spectrum infrared sauna is typically around 158ºF (70ºC) — and that’s exactly where the Clearlight TrueWave™ sauna at GOAT Wellness peaks. But unlike traditional saunas that rely on scorching air, infrared saunas use light-based heat that penetrates the body directly. That means you’ll experience a more intense detox and deeper muscle recovery — even at a lower air temperature.
Because infrared heat warms you from the inside out, you’ll sweat more efficiently, recover faster, and feel more relaxed without struggling to breathe in heavy, humid air. The result: maximum results with maximum comfort — precision performance recovery designed for legends.
Is the lower temperature of an infrared sauna less effective?
Not at all — the lower temperature is actually what makes infrared sauna therapy more effective. Traditional saunas heat the air around you, forcing your body to work harder just to stay cool. Infrared saunas, on the other hand, use light-based wavelengths that heat the body directly, allowing you to sweat more deeply and detoxify at a cellular level — all at a comfortable 110–158ºF.
Because the heat penetrates up to 1.5 inches beneath the skin, you experience greater circulation, faster muscle recovery, reduced inflammation, and improved detoxification — without the suffocating air of a conventional sauna. At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna proves that lower heat doesn’t mean less — it means smarter, deeper, and more efficient healing.
How long should a infrared sauna session be?
An infrared sauna session typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your goals and experience level. Unlike traditional saunas that rely on extreme air heat, infrared saunas work more efficiently — allowing your body to sweat, detox, and recover at lower, more comfortable temperatures (110–158ºF).
If you’re new to infrared therapy, start with 20–25 minutes and gradually increase your session length as your body adapts. Consistency matters more than duration — regular sessions lead to deeper detoxification, better circulation, and long-term recovery benefits.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna is designed for maximum results in minimal time, helping you reset, recharge, and perform at your best — one session at a time.
How often should I use the Infrared Sauna?
How often you use the infrared sauna depends on your goals, lifestyle, and recovery needs — but consistency is key. For general wellness and stress relief, 2–3 sessions per week is ideal. For deeper detoxification, muscle recovery, or chronic inflammation, many clients benefit from 4–6 sessions per week.
Because infrared saunas operate at comfortable temperatures (110–158ºF), your body can tolerate more frequent use compared to traditional saunas. Each session compounds the benefits — improving circulation, boosting metabolism, enhancing detox, and speeding recovery over time.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna is safe for regular use, and our team can help you build a custom recovery routine based on your performance and wellness goals.
Is the infrared sauna safe?
Yes — infrared saunas are completely safe for most people when used properly. Unlike traditional saunas that rely on extremely high air temperatures, infrared saunas use gentle, therapeutic light waves that warm the body directly at a comfortable 110–158ºF. This allows for deep cellular benefits without overstressing your system.
All Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared saunas at GOAT Wellness are medical-grade, low-EMF certified, and designed for consistent, even heating. Each session is fully private, and our team ensures a safe, comfortable environment for every guest.
As with any wellness treatment, those who are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, or other medical concerns should consult with their physician before use. When used responsibly, infrared sauna therapy is a safe, science-backed way to recover, detox, and recharge at the highest level.
Contraindications Include:
• Medications: (Diuretics, Barbiturates or Beta- Blockers) If you’re on any prescription medication, consult your doctor about the intended effects and possible side-effects that may be relevant. Any medication that affects heart rate, blood pressure and circulation, and the body’s natural heat regulation response. Some prescriptions may inhibit sweating, which hinders the body from releasing heat. This can lead to a heat rash or even a heat stroke.
• Children and Edlerly: In children, core body temperature rises much faster than in adults due to a higher metabolic rate and the inability to stabilize body temperature by sweating. In the elderly, the ability to maintain body temperature decreases because of decreased sweat gland function and circulatory conditions.
• Cardiovascular Conditions: If you have a history of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, or blood circulatory problems, you may be at risk of putting stress on your heart. As the heat from the infrared sauna prompts the body to increase metabolic rate, this causes the heart to beat faster and harder to reduce the body’s elevated temperature.
Alcohol and Drub Abuse: The use of alcohol and/or drugs can lead to unconsciousness from the body’s negative reaction to high heat. A sauna session will also not help to “sweat” out a hangover; since the body is already in a dehydrated state, sweating will cause further electrolyte depletion. Remember to stay hydrated before and after a session to replace those electrolytes and minerals.
Reduced ability or inability to sweat: If you have a reduced ability/inability to sweat, it will be harder to regulate core body temperature and cool the body, which can lead to a heat stroke.
Heat Sensitivity/Fever: If you have a fever or an insensitivity/sensitivity to heat, you should avoid the infrared sauna. It’s best to wait for the fever to dissipate before coming in for a session.
Hemophilia: If you are prone to excess bleeding, it’s best to avoid infrared sauna therapy as the heat stimulates blood circulation.
Pregnancy: If you are pregnant, consult your physician for advice to see if infrared sauna therapy is safe.
Recent Joint Injury: If you had a recent joint injury, an infrared sauna session may worsen the swelling of the injury. Recently injured joints should not be heated. We recommend Cryotherapy instead.
Implants: Implants of all kinds may contain metal pins or artificial joints reflect the infrared sauna rays.
How does the infrared sauna help detox the body?
Infrared saunas detox the body by working from the inside out. Instead of heating the air around you, the infrared wavelengths penetrate deep into your tissues — stimulating sweat glands and increasing circulation at the cellular level. This process helps your body flush out toxins, heavy metals, and environmental pollutants through deep, efficient sweating.
The far-infrared wavelengths in particular promote lymphatic drainage and boost the body’s natural detox pathways, supporting your liver, kidneys, and skin — your body’s three primary detox organs.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna maximizes this effect by combining near, mid, and far wavelengths to deliver a total-body detox that leaves you feeling lighter, clearer, and fully recharged — without the extreme heat of a traditional sauna.
How many calories can I burn in a Infrared Sauna session?
An infrared sauna session can help you burn anywhere from 200 to 600 calories, depending on your body composition, session length, and heat intensity. The infrared wavelengths raise your core temperature and heart rate — mimicking the effects of a light workout. As your body works to cool itself, it increases metabolic activity and circulation, leading to measurable calorie burn.
Unlike traditional saunas that rely on surface heat, infrared therapy activates energy expenditure at the cellular level, enhancing fat metabolism and detoxification while you relax.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna helps you sweat smarter, not harder — giving you performance-level results in a calm, restorative setting.
Can Infrared Sauna help with cellulite or skin tone?
Yes — infrared sauna therapy can noticeably improve skin tone and the appearance of cellulite over time. The infrared wavelengths stimulate circulation, increase collagen production, and enhance lymphatic drainage — all key factors in smoothing and tightening the skin.
The far-infrared heat penetrates deep beneath the surface, helping to break down trapped toxins and fluids that contribute to the dimpled appearance of cellulite. At the same time, the near-infrared wavelengths support cellular repair and collagen regeneration, improving skin elasticity and overall tone.
At GOAT Wellness, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna delivers all three wavelengths (near, mid, and far) simultaneously — giving your skin a healthier glow, firmer texture, and more even tone while also promoting full-body detox and recovery.
Does Infrared Sauna help with stress or sleep?
Yes — infrared sauna therapy is highly effective for reducing stress and improving sleep quality. The gentle, penetrating heat activates your parasympathetic nervous system — the body’s “rest and recover” mode — helping to lower cortisol levels and release endorphins that promote calm and relaxation.
Regular infrared sessions can help balance your circadian rhythm, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep through the night. Many clients at GOAT Wellness report feeling deeply relaxed, mentally clear, and physically restored after just one session.
By combining the calming infrared wavelengths with a private, quiet environment, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum sauna helps your body unwind, reset, and recharge — the perfect antidote to Chicago stress and sleepless nights.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for using and infrared sauna?
Preparation is simple — but it makes a big difference in how your body responds. Before your session at GOAT Wellness, follow these quick tips to maximize your results and comfort:
Hydrate well: Drink plenty of water before (and after) your session to support detoxification and circulation.
Eat light: Avoid heavy meals right before; a small snack or smoothie is fine.
Wear minimal clothing: Loose, breathable fabrics or a towel allow better infrared absorption.
Remove metal accessories: Take off jewelry, watches, or anything metal to prevent heat conduction.
Arrive clean: A quick rinse or shower removes lotions, oils, and sweat that can block pores and limit detox.
That’s it — no major prep needed. Just show up hydrated, comfortable, and ready to sweat smarter, not harder.
What should I do after my Infrared Sauna session?
Post-sauna care is just as important as the session itself — it helps your body replenish, recover, and maximize results. After your infrared sauna at GOAT Wellness, follow these steps:
Hydrate immediately: You’ve just sweated out toxins and electrolytes — drink plenty of water or a mineral-rich electrolyte drink.
Cool down gradually: Allow your body temperature to return to normal naturally; avoid cold showers right away unless you’re pairing it intentionally for contrast therapy.
Refuel lightly: A healthy snack with protein or fruit helps restore nutrients and stabilize energy.
Rinse off: A quick shower removes sweat and toxins released through the skin.
Rest or stack treatments: Many clients follow their sauna with Normatec compression or cryotherapy for next-level recovery and inflammation control.
In short — hydrate, rest, and recover. Your body just worked hard to detox and reset; give it what it needs to lock in those legendary results.
Can I use the Infrared Sauna if I have implants or had recent surgery?
If you have implants or have recently undergone surgery, you should consult your physician before using an infrared sauna. While infrared therapy is generally safe and noninvasive, the deep, penetrating heat can increase circulation and tissue temperature — which may not be suitable for all post-surgical conditions or certain implant materials.
In most cases, once healing is complete and your doctor clears you, infrared sauna use is safe and can actually help reduce scar tissue stiffness, improve circulation, and support recovery. However, if your surgery was recent or you have silicone, metal, or other temperature-sensitive implants, professional guidance is essential before booking a session.
At GOAT Wellness, your safety always comes first — our team will ensure your sauna experience aligns with your recovery stage and physician’s recommendations.
What should I wear in the infrared sauna?
For the best infrared sauna experience, less is more. The goal is to let the infrared wavelengths fully penetrate your skin for maximum detox and recovery benefits. Most clients at GOAT Wellness wear minimal, breathable clothing — such as a swimsuit, sports bra, or shorts. Some prefer to use a towel wrap or go nude for complete comfort and exposure (our private sauna suites allow for full privacy).
Avoid wearing synthetic or tight fabrics, as they can block infrared light and trap heat. Always bring a clean towel to sit or lie on for hygiene and to absorb sweat.
Bottom line: Keep it light, breathable, and comfortable — so the infrared heat can do its job from the inside out.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t use Infrared Sauna?
Yes — while infrared sauna therapy is safe for most people, there are certain conditions where caution or medical clearance is needed. You should avoid or consult your physician before using an infrared sauna if you:
Are pregnant or may be pregnant
Have cardiovascular conditions, including uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart disease
Have implants, metal hardware, or recent surgical sites
Are experiencing fever, infection, or active inflammation
Have a condition that affects heat sensitivity (such as multiple sclerosis or adrenal fatigue)
Are under medical supervision for chronic illness or medications that impair sweating
At GOAT Wellness, your safety comes first. We recommend discussing sauna use with your healthcare provider if you have any medical concerns. When used responsibly, our Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum infrared sauna is a powerful, restorative tool for recovery, detox, and total-body wellness.
Can I use my phone or listen to music?
Yes! Our saunas have Bluetooth speakers — connect your playlist, podcast, or sports highlights and chill while you sweat. Just keep electronics off the floor where the heat’s strongest.
Can I bring a friend?
No — all infrared sauna sessions at GOAT Wellness are private to ensure the most comfortable, hygienic, and effective experience possible. Each Clearlight TrueWave™ full-spectrum sauna is designed for one person per session, allowing the infrared wavelengths to circulate evenly and deliver consistent heat exposure.
This private setup also gives you space to fully relax, detox, and recover without distraction — your session, your time, your reset.
